From the minute I put them on, I knew I had done something wrong (single-channel video), 2011
Developed during my final year at Glasgow School of Art the above film sits as part of a body of work exploring camp expression. Re-figured as an effeminate alien in ruby slippers, I danced my camp desires. Visually inspired by Powell and Pressburger's seminal classic The Red Shoes, the work in this project sought to unpack the queer experience of performing subversion, the potential for sexless representation, and the persistently dramatic way I performed my own queerness.
Filmed at East Cheshire Drama Studio
Shown at the Glasgow School of Art - June 2011
