I SIT AND ...
2017 (performance tryptic - durational)
Developed for Glasgow Open House festival and performed via Facebook Live, I SIT AND is a tryptic of durational streamed performances. In each episode, the central "character" performs repetitive or tableaux motions in order to seek a truly digital screen-based existence.
Action 1: Eating
Action 2: Laying in bed with "partner"
Action 2: Dancing/Ignoring
Each online performance (lasting four hours) subverts domestic, intimate activities and re-fashions them as GIF-like performances. The work draws from a variety of live streaming practices including the world of online friends, cam boys, and YouTubers; exploring the limits of the body and mind when used as a digital image in isolation.
